Colorado cat hunting Question?

Post by washingtonhunter524 »

Hey just wondering if anyone can give me any info on cat hunting in colorado for nonresidents. i have read the regulations pamphlet and know its like $350 for a nonresident lion tag and $56 for a small game/bobcat license? Just want to make sure if i buy these tags i can legally hunt lion and bobcat with hounds. And i dont have to apply for any hound permit like idaho since im a nonresident?

Thanks

You do have to do the on-line mtn. lion test b4 buying the license, but other than that you are good to go.

NR lions tags, sold over the counter are $351.. You will also need a Habitat Stamp, $10 and your hunter safety card and get a CID number, which is free. You need to carry both with you in the field. You will also need to take the online Mt. Lion Test, which is free, and print out the card at the end and carry it with you also. No Small Game license is required for lions. You will need it if you chase bobcats. The night before you hunt, you need to call the 800 number and make sure the unit you want to hunt the next day didn't close. If it did, you can't hunt in that unit the rest of the season. Each unit has a quota and when it fills up, it's closed.

the furbearer liscense is the same price as a small game tag. you just need one or the other for bobcats. you can get online at the colorado division of wildlife site and take the lion test, and buy your liscense. once you have passed the test there, you are automatically in there computer and your liscence will show that you have taken the test. after this you are not nesiscarily required to carry the lion test card with you, all though it doesnt hurt. You will however have to have your cid number to take the test, which you can get on there website as well.
