How old are you if you don't mind me asking the question?
The reason i ask is that if you did some research on this sight you would find the answers to all of your questions and probably not ask so many that i just keep on shaking my head at.

i thank he said he was 16 and they r right you can find all your answers on post from others but questions are good trigg and walkers are fast but there fast dogs in all breeds for a yong man just starting i would not worrie about speed but just getting a good dog or pup and if you do get a pup try to trap a coon for the hide or by some sent and run drags to the tree and put the sent on a toy so he will acc. the sent with fun and praise him when he plays with it or if he runs the drag pet him down real good when he dose something you like

Don't be a hater. We all start somewhere. If you are that darn good then stay in the woods and not on this site.

Fast is a relative thing. Most of the fast dogs are not the dogs that you want unless they have the track ability to go with it. The advantage with part running dogs is not there speed, it is how they run a track which is why they move a track faster. It is usually only advantageous on the cold trailing cat hunting. Most dogs run fast enough to tree cats if they can put the steady pressure on the cat. We all want the first dog that crosses the road on a jump track usually he is not the best dog in the race. On a cat race the first dog across is the one that is causes most of the problems most of the time. Just my opinion. Dewey

Why do people have the need to be dicks if you don't want to answer the question then don't. But instead some old fart has to be a ass and make a comment. maybe you shouldn't come on a forum I'm pretty sure they are here for people to ask questions and for nice people to reply. I'm pretty sure those dicks out there asked the same type of questions when they were starting out. Don't be a dick

Your right everyone starts somewhere but you can't expect to be handed everything. I understand that its a kid now and he is new to the game but i would like to think someone serious about getting in the sport would do some research on their own when the resources are available. Like this web sight. I guess i sounded like a real prick but if you give kids everything they want and don't make them work for anything when they have the resources your just setting them up for failure. I always have at least 1 kid and sometimes up to 5 kids with me when i am hunting ranging from 5 to 16 years old. I am doing plenty for the sport with the younger generation. Everyone that rides pitches in also by leading a dog back from a tree or dragging a dead bear or even keeping a dog quiet in the box but no snot nosed little spoiled kids go with me like i assume that you were.(walkerscan) JMO sorry if i ruffled anyones feathers.

First off im not old, but i know enough to have the common sense and respect to listen when grandpa is talking instead of driving him crazy with questions. Think what you want but my advice was simply to search on his own a little bit before asking every question that popped into his head. He would probably get a better answer and not have the drama surounded by little pricks like you starting crap with things they don't agree with. Have a good day and happy hunting.

There are fast hounds in every bred . The best thing to do is fine a couple guys there that hunt the hair off there hounds and ask if you could hunt with them and maybe by a pup or started dog . Good luck hunting and hope you fine what you want theres a lot of damn good guy out there.

There are fast dogs in every breed, I saw that you asked about certain breeds also. It does not matter what color the dog, it is what makes you happy that matters most. There is good and bad in every breed sometimes it is just luck of the draw. You can also breed the best to the best and get shit. In my opinion it is not speed that catches game it is heart and drive, not only in the hound but the owner. You could get the best dog that money could buy but without time in the woods it will not make anything. It will take time and experience for you and your hound and believe me after hunting for 30+ years there are still things to learn. I wish you lived closer to Cali. cause I would love to take you under my wing and help ya' out. Good luck in your future and happy hunting.
