"Houndn'em Bluetics" two toms this week!

Post by houndnem »

Well, I was stuck at the nfr in las vegas while everybody else was out poundin it this weekend. monday came and I decided I better get some cat huntin done. went up on boulder mountain and cut an older track. it had about an inch of snow over it so I passed on it. after cutting the whole mountain and not finding another track I decided to give it a try. it was now 3 pm. put the dogs on it and they went straight up the mountain and over the top. I started hiking and right before the sun went down I was lookin at a dandy tom in a tree. went to get my camera out and realized it was on the seat of my truck. next day I get a call from a friend of mine that had a pine valley tag saying he had cut a nice tom track. went up and we both dumped our hounds. we were in a roadless area and of coarse they went into the back country. after an all day death march we found ourselves looking at a nice tom in a tree. congratulations to Kenny jones on a hell of a cat! and where was my camera? same place as the day before. lucky for me this time kenny had a camera phone.

Nice one!! Robert told me it may have been the one we were after...definitely not though!

And Kenny, sorry I've been meaning to stop by but haven't had a chance...I'll come by this weekend and introduce myself as your new neighbor if you'll be around?

Damn dude you are going to kill your dogs future and with the tough time you had on bears I would think you would leave a few cats to run.

No I just have a pursuit...we ran a small Tom just a couple miles from the house last weekend and our Redneck friend said it may have been the one you guys took, but definitely not! Nice cat guys!!

So If it was a death march going in how was it coming out packing that cat? :beer

your guess is as good as mine. we skinned him out and took him out in a back pack. Holding him up I would guess at least 7 feet long and over 140 pounds. just a guess though.

I caught as many bears as any one else does down here probably more??? we tree around 30 lions in an average season, of those 4 or five will die if they are big enough. And all will be toms. don't think we'll hurt it too bad, I range over 300 miles where I hunt and all the cats are all on different units. but it sounds like your just lookin to start some sh%t anyway. happy huntin, Jared. p.s. I said I caught 2 big toms, we only killed one, forgot my camera the first day.
