How far are u wanting to shoot are u looking for max proformance ballistically? What about price? The good old remington cor lokt is a great killing bullet my family has shoot them for years and they do great. If you want to shoot flatter and farther try the remington premier with the scorrocco bullet or any of the nosler performance loads. We have a buddy the likes to shoot those throphy bond bear claws and everything walks away he loses half his animals they don't mushroom well unless ur shooting grizzly or African game not black bears or elk. Just my two cents.

I have tried about every bullet on the market on big game and I must say that the bulk of todays bullets are far superior to those of just 15-20 years ago. One bullet I have given up on however is a brand that I grew up with and used extensively. Sierra. Yes the vaunted premier accuracy bullet for some reason I feel the recipe has been changed a bit and even in standard non-magnum calibers( 270-308-30-06) I have seen some failures over the past couple of years. Bullets failing to penetrate deep enough before shedding their jackets or coming apart. I though maybe it was just a few bad batches for me but I have talked to others who have had similar failures. I am not just talking elk sized targets eiither I have had them fail on mule deer. Oh you generally get them killed but not in the manner that you might want. In the bigger magnum or hotter magnum cases 7mm Rem Mag, 300's or Ultras they come apart like a cheap watch. I have seen them blow up on the shoulder of a big buck at close range so i cannon recommend them.

As CatCrazed said the old Core Loct is a pretty hard bullet to beat especially in standard calibers and I have seen truck loads of game harvested with them. In reality if you are shooting a standard caliber and not trying to shoot to the next country you just can't do any better for the money.

Although i am a fan of Barnes Bullets and have killed a lot of game with them you generally won't get the lightning like kills with them that quickeir expanding bullets will deliver on lighter game. Generally they whistle thru and you see the dust kick up on the off side and the critter takes off on a run and folds after a short run. Makes for excellent tracking footage for the Outdoor Channel but can be the $shits if he bails off into a deep canyon and rolls 500 feet thru a boulder pile!

Over the past couple years I have become an avid fan of the Berger VLD bullet. Even propelled at super velocity this bullet with penetrate 2-3 inchs before it starts to expand which allows it to get inside even large animals, and then it opens up violently expending the maximum energy inside the animal and causing quick and humane kills. I was a bit of a skeptic when I first was suggested to try them but after hearing of the glowing success stories of long range Pros. like I very own Shorty on this forum I tried them and I am now a beleiver.

I just got a report yesterday from Montana from two top shooters telling me they are having erratic accuracy problems with Hornaday's new Super Performance ammo. It states you get 200 FPS faster from any caliber, but these guys are telling me their usually dead accurate rifles are scattering shots all over the paper mostly likely due to erratic pressures in highly compressed loads.

I believe the remington cor lokt are about the best all around bullet with little to no failure. Its the only thing my dad shoots out of his 7mm and i have seen him shoot a pile of deer and none ever took one step.

i shoot 210 grain nosler partitions out of my .338 a-bolt with great sucess, great penetration and knock down power. and i shoot 180 grain barnes tipped triple shocks out of my .300 ultra and have had great long range accuracy and bullet performance out to 855 yards so far on mule deer and 768 on elk. the tipped tripple shocks have been the most accurate down range that i have found for my ultra. just my two cents
