That really sucks. There are way to many WOLVES in mn. Where do you hunt. We sometimes have problems with them in some spots we like to hunt.

sorry for your loss man . and would just post a question for the hound hunters in wolf country . this seems like a good time for discussion on the subject . i know i lost a few beagles to the yotes . now i am hog hunting with hound crosses in texas . the question being would it be feesable for the wolf country boys to adapt the use of some of the hog hunting gear for thier hounds i.e. the 4'' wide collars and the light weight kevlar vest . i feel the cut collars would of benefit because the wolves and yotes style is to grab the neck and choke a dog down and the vest would be a mouthfull of vest and not skin and those unnatural feeling things might even deter the wolf and make em back off . just a thought and was wondering what others might think or maybe have tryed .

Jordan; Sorry to hear of your loss, hope that in the near future they give us the right to redeeem your loss. Had one of my running dogs slip off on one the other day when he made a loss on a cat, I am thankful that we had a skiff of snow so that I could see the tracks on the ice in the swamp to know what was going on, thank god I had the shocker on him to get him back on the cat. I do not know for sure but am pretty certain that the wolf came into the barking, as I had circled the piece the cat had went into and did not see no wolf tracks going in then.

Halfbreed- doubt that would make much of a difference at all. Not to mention a hound actually trailing, not a catch dog. Would most likely overheat as a result of the vest.

That's what thought as well Steve. I would be also worried about the dog getting hung up in the brush with a vest on. The thought has crossed my mine though. Still never got a call back from the two Co's that we called. Really pisses me off. If someone would have called in because my dogs ram across there property they would have responded immediately.
