Re: bluetick
I prefer Walkers but I have hunted with some excellent Bluedogs also. As long as they bay and can keep up hunt-em.

Re: bluetick
Ever seen a holstein cow? Looks like the bovine version of a walker hound.

well thanks for giving me your opinion i really appreciate it.David_Heimann wrote:Fords and chevys, stihls and huskys, blueticks and walkers: whatever works for you
Personally, we have caught WAY more game with the cold nosed Blue ticks than when we ran the warm nosed walkers and plotts.
I think Blue ticks are great because they are a cold nosed and really gritty breed (compared to the cold nosed red bone that isn't so gritty), a good combo for bears and any big game really.
I prefer the personality of a blue tick over walkers, and like to watch them work a trail and get something going, and they are great around my family/kids, good people dogs.
Some folks like the speed of a Walker over a Blue tick, for me this has never been a issue. If the bear is just that dang fast he is gonna run and run and run, and run, I have ran blueticks and the "faster" walker side by side on a fast little bear, after 6 hours of running it, neither of them caught it. A good cold nosed gritty dog will catch you more game and get more game started and find the tree, it just will, and like I said, speaking from experience here, we ran walkers and plotts for years. Just my worthless two cents, but hey, you asked our opinions, and that is what mine is.

Re: bluetick
I have Blueticks, Walkers and Plotts. I perfer the Blueticks over the others, they seem to posses all the great traits for a bear dog. A great nose, plenty of speed and all the grit that you need.
