Kemmer Curs ??

Post by COOTER »

Anyone use Kemmers on Lion? I was wondering how a Kemmer would do on Lion and Bobcat!

I was Lynx hunting a couple weeks ago in BC with an outfitter friend of mine who has a Kemmer...amazing little hound.
He's taken several lynx as well as Lions with this hound and likes him alot..
I had a bit of trouble letting my good B&T female run with him ...that Kemmer's a funny color !!!!!

A good hound treed hard and worked a track very well.
Colin Niemeyer is the fella that runs him....

Have Kemmers and hounds and catch lions and bobs with them just add a little different to the pack but bring the mail it will die if it doesnt climb when it comes to cats. PM me if interested and will send pics.

Shawn in Mt runs lions with only Kemmers/mountain curs give him a shout

I've got two Kemmers run lion, bobcats, and coons with them. I won't ever own another hound again. Not saying thy are better than hounds, just a better fit for the way I hunt.

Smart, fast, handle well, GRITTY, and great with my young boys.

I have met a few guys with the same sentiments. They will give you a new definition for "pleasure hunting". One of my favorite dogs was a Kemmer Cur. If I had to have one dog and only one and I needed to catch anything that climbs from squirrel to lion, and even needed it to flush birds, decoy coyotes, and be one of the finest family pets a man could hope for: It would be a good Kemmer.

they are not all good.

I owned a good one. She acheived about 30% success rate on jumped bobcats. This does not sound so good to many of you. But it is better than about 95% of the full blooded hounds I have known in the great lakes area.

I do not know how many hundreds of coon she treed. An awfull lot of them were coons idiot hounds ran past so they could go tree one in the next county. you get to where you will not even turn out a hound on a coon hunt with a good Kemmer because you get tired of seeing the hounds look like complete idiots.

I have owned better bobcat dogs. I have never owned a better companion.

There were times of frustration that could have only been helped with a good hound. I would face a lot of frustration if I was put in a situation where I could only use full blooded Kemmers. But a good Kemmer is a great dog that does what it was bred to do.

One of the very best bear and lion dogs I have ever owned was a small Kemmer male. He was fast and fearless, and one hell of a people dog. I like some Kemmers with my hounds the kemmers are the lightning, the big blue hounds are my Hammer.

I have a buddy who runs a Kemmer. He just had this dog given to him. He is one heck of a dog. He works livestock with him, great family pet his always just hanging around the house never on a leash. And when it comes time for hunting his a dang nice dog fast trailing super gritty little dog.
