Re: Garmin Astro 220 Questions
Tracker ones? They don't sell one in the US!! Unless he, and you are talking about beep beep trackers. There are tons of threads on the astro with many more responses on the pros and cons. Pros far outweigh the cons hands down.
Also the 220 has been discontinued for some time now. Still a few units alone available out there new. But combos are pretty much gone. The 320 is a far superior unit anyway.

By far better! Better screen, Faster processor, which means quicker hook up times, faster map loading etc. More user friendly menus, less interference warnings. Bluetooth capability, oh and the BIRDSEYE!!! That's just some of the stuff.

Well looks like I'm getting a 320 should I run DC 30s or 40s?

Got 10 dc 30's that are going on 3 years old and one new dc40 that took a dump after one month. Never had a problem with the 30's.

Re: Garmin Astro 220 Questions
Yes, as it has been stated many many times. There were problems with the 40's when they came out. Those issues have been resolved. If they had not been fixed, do you really think I would have sold off all my 30's for 40's? I do appreciate though all the BS paying for my 40's and a profit on top of it!!!
Osage there are very few new 30's left out there if at all. So if you were to get a 30 it most likely will be used and at a higher price!!

Re: Garmin Astro 220 Questions
Well I'm on the other side of the coin than Steve, I'm still using DC30's and just Sent one in for repair and Gladly will pay the 90 dollar repair on it. If I need a New collar I would start using a DC40 over spending 200 or 300 dollars on a DC30, but If I had the option to buy DC30 new.. In a Heart beat.. in A HEARTBEAT! I would.
And Unfortunately I can't sell dc30's anymore and Have to Sell DC40's and it's not good when I scare off customers who don't have any other Options.
Tracking wise, The DC40's are working much better now Steve is correct.. However there are still issues that bother me and I probably only notice it because I have allot of customers, and I Have gotten to see, feel and Hear their Stories with DC30s. I just don't remember these horror stories with DC30's and I've sold thousands of DC30's also.
And I've had to Double My DC40 collars that I keep because I try to loan collars to hunters while they are waiting for garmin to repair theirs, ( I have all 4 D40 of my collars our for Loan right now) all because of the same problem customers are having, Collar won't turn on, and won't charge.
Just this weekend I too Had the problem happen to me,
I just took a DC40 out of the box to try this weekend and it took a crap, Never Made it to touch Dog Hair,I charged it, woke up to go hunting and it wouldn't turn on. This was Not the GPS loss of signal that I was complaining about Last year (That's mostly Fixed), just completely Dead in the Water send back to Garmin issue (won't turn on, won't charge).
I have a list of customers with the same issue.. I actually just posted a Video of it because I'm tired of Answering the same questions every other day. I sure Hope Garmin get's this issue figured out and fixed because it's killing me and I"m sure they aren't enjoying it either.
It Probably doesn't hurt the guys that don't care about their customers since they don't ever hear back from them. I had my supplier tell me that it's only me, Well probably because I"m the only one that works and talks to my customers after the sale.. I don't know?
At the End of the Day, I Like and prefer the DC30's, I kinda liken it to a 7.3L ford Diesel and a 6.0L diesel The 6.0L works and pulls and does everything you need, But I think the 7.3L is just a work horse that holds up to more abuse. Both work well, But I' would Choose the DC30's if there was a choice but there isn't a choice except USED.
Just my Two Cents, but it's kinda a stark contrast, It's not a good thing for my sales and I probably should keep my mouth Shut more. But Garmin will figure this out and I think after they learn all the pitfalls with the DC40's they will again get it right.
I still wish they would bring back the DC30's.. I'm just a DC30 fan boy I guess..
