Yeah, shoot it in the guts before its too late, otherwise you get 700+ wolves by next year
Re: were to live
I would have to say northern California also. No wolves yet and hunt bear, coon, bobcat and fox legally!
Re: were to live
i would say Utah has the better setup for sportsmen/ sportswomen. they have more game to hunt with dogs, legally. they have a two thirds majority vote for wildlife issues.(unless this has changed in past few years). Colorado tried to copy the same thing, but the N.R.A. would support this, because it did not include fish. Utah has some very good houndspeople, although they a very competitive(meant in a good way). it also varys in conditions and longer hunting seasons. if i could find a good job there, i would move. most of this rambling is my own thoughts, but i know several people there, and are good people.
Re: were to live
southern states seem the best w/ over the counter kill tags & bigger bag limits on bobs.
by comparison UT is lotteried kill tags so if you stumble on a great bear or lion during a year when you are pursuit only you have to hope some guide doesn't put it up a tree for some nimrod deer shooter that doesn't even like dog hunters. and since kill tags & even some pursuit is limited entry you might not be able to run dogs legally where you live. and manadement is geared to making thedeer & elk shooters happy so some locations are being overharvest of cats.
if you want to run bobs too, you have to get a seperate fur takers license & bobcat tag & your limit is about three (if the tags don't sell out before you get yours).
in most southern states bear is just part of the big game tags/license. at least some part of the state allows deer dogging so there is less chance of some selfish turd shooting a pup that's trashing. bobber limits range from several to no limit at all. most states let you run bobs off the regular hunting license. even if they don't the cost is still about half what it is out west.
the only advantage the west has is mt lion & big tracts of BLM land. the disadvantages are tag costs, limitations on tags & heavy competition w/ guides.
the advantages of the south are lower tag costs, more productive environment, more dog friendly culture, & more liberal take opportunities. the disadvantages are smaller tracts of public land & limited access to private land due to hunting lease culture.

Re: were to live
I would agree with Pops about the southern states.. Here in NC we have coon, bear, hogs, bobcats and also some parts allow deer dogging. We have huge land parcels open to sportsmen/women and very long seasons. hogs are declared feral now, so one is allowed to hunt them yr round on private property.
