bobcat tracks this afternoon
Re: bobcat tracks this afternoon
It may be a tom track like andy stated but if was cutting tracks id more than likely pass over it because of three things. The drag, gait looks off and in open cover. Now I look at most closely if I have a doubt but looks coyote from that picture to me.
Re: bobcat tracks this afternoon
Are you sure that first track you posted is the same as the others? First one sure looks foxy to me but the others look catty. I think I get in more trouble in skiff snow than I do when the critter has to step in 3-4+ inches. You also have to account for it's stride and how it's moving. If it's going all over the place checking stuff out, it's a fox.

Re: bobcat tracks this afternoon
ive seen some larger bobs here in maine walk pretty trashy. had to walk them a long ways to find where it walked a log or jumped a rock to know for certain wether it was a cat or not. MOST cats, as we all know, walk clean but they are wild animals. give the man some credit. i say cat, and a nice one at that!! JMO and i am for sure not a "professional". just saying how ive seen it

Re: bobcat tracks this afternoon
First track is definately not a bobcat but the other 2 pics are. Maybe they were piggy backing?

Sorry, I was being a smart ass. Just doesn't look like the same critter made the tracks in all the pics.

Re: bobcat tracks this afternoon
Here are some pictures of some bobcat tracks like the ones Twist and Robbyson99 are talking about. Alot of people would drive right by this track and not give it a second thought. I'm sure that I have done it myself a few times. Usauly made by a bigger older cat. A good thing to remember when you're cutting for tracks is never say never or always.

Those are some good words of advice spruce mountain. Just when you think you have them figured out they will throw you a curve ball. Just keep following those tracks out and hunting hard JT and it'll all come together.
