Buddy,

You keep saying the classifieds are taking over the site, if so y would u change the hot area? If it rules the site so much it must be what the people like! I have never sold anything on this site, but I've bought things. An personally I hate pms.
Turn'em loose- if were gonna loose them mine as well loose them all!

As someone who's been around "this" website for 6 years, I like the change. It was never about classifieds on this site. Since Buddy has taken over it has never been about him or his hound supply business. It's been basically whatever the people on the board want. Unfortunately, what usually happens is the squeaky wheels get the grease. Most of us recognize that these sites take alot of resources (both time and money) and so we try not to gripe alot. I can't believe that he even lets his competition put anything on this board. That's just him being gracious. I hope the guy makes a million dollars off of this website. More power to him. It takes alot of balls to question his intentions. Especially when most of the griping is coming from relatively new members.

Backwoods1, I think the idea is that it's not what "people like". It's a handfull of people hijacking the board by constantly bumping their classified ads with little or no new information. I just realized I don't usually view the board like most people either so it wasn't bothering ME a whole lot but I can see why it would irritate people. When I use my phone it's very frustrating.

I don’t see why this issue is so tough, for those that just want to use this site for how many people it reaches in order to sell something, buy a damn add you cheap skates. I can’t see why it’s so difficult. Before this type of media was available people had to use hound hunting magazines to sell their hounds, pups, and miscellaneous items… Full Cry was .25 cents a word to advertise in their classifieds. To have it in the quick locator section for four month would cost $ 180.00 and if you missed the dead line, your add wouldn’t go in until the following month. If it were me I would make it simple, charge everyone and make it worth my time for putting up will the entire BS…

Sorry I had to get out and hunt a couple days and get away.

The classifieds will still be there, It's just that they don't keep getting the same ads bumped to the top of the list.

I've had some folks that I didn't expect to like the change give me a thumbs up, and obviously some strong opposition that don't like it.

I don't have any desire to Sell ads, I don't think that would work, Like it was mentioned Coon hound central did that and I don't think that would work. I have no problem with Free Ads, I just don't want those free ads to take over or cause me allot of work..

I want to work for the Guys that are using the site to talk about hunting!

I forgot to keep one rule,

No Business advertisements for free. We allow private ads on this website, but if it's a business advertisements they won't be allowed in the classified section without prior approval.

If it were me I would charge for the classifieds. I understand you don't want too though. How can anyone bitch about PM's and not liking something when it's free????

the reasons i dont like the change are , lets say some one lists a dog and u know the guy and the dog. u see someone reply to the post , u can pm the interested party and tell them hey the 8 yr old dog is really 10 and that guy hasnt hunted the dog for 2 yrs. so that saves the guy a drive from lets say montana to california. to try out a dog that isnt what he was told.
another is the guy could say hey i have bought dogs from this guy and he is the real deal and a strait person .
i think this is a great forum and the first 2 things i look at when i get on here is the classifieds and the bobcat section . i like it the way it was jmo.

So the reason you don't like the change is because you want the ability to put your nose into someone elses business? There is a section called the cage for you to use if it's something major. I think what's happening alot is people who don't even know the person is attacking their ad. Or people who have a personal issue with the seller attacks them. Not so much based on the merit of the ad but because they don't like each other. If you have a bad experience at Walmart, do you go stand in front of their doors with signs calling them crooks, ect??? Or do you just tell everyone you know and let word of mouth get around?

i dont want to put my nose where it dont belong. but if i was selling a piece of shit to u and your buddy new about it, wouldnt u want him to tell u. you would find out when u got the dog, but by the time u drove over here and got it home, then got it back to the person how much time and money did u waste. jmo .

The way i see it now it's buyer beware. I got burned on a dog when it was the old way. A guy had a dog and 3 of his buddies to talk it up real good so it works both ways. Maybe somone could come up with a post that buddy could keep at the top of the classifieds or something that stated things to watch for when buying a dog. Like when a dog is for sale for $1000.00 with trial or $500.00 cash in hand no guarantee.

That sounds like a really great idea Clint. I also really like what was talked about a page or two back about maybe having a spot where people could leave some type of feed back. Not stuff that should be in the cage but things along the lines of "hey I bought this from that guy great guy to deal with" or "payed called many times never got my dog". I know what ever would be a pain and just mean more work but would help some of the new guys out.

I prefer it this way myself, However I was just looking at the classifieds and Noticed that I could reply to them and I actually did reply on one of the ads.

My apologizes.

I didn't realize it was an advertisement in the classified section when I responded last week. So I'm apologizing to all that thought I was abusing my powers.

I'll have to work on it so that I make sure that I or the moderators can't reply either.
