what is everyones favorite strains of plott to hunt and why?, what are their good qualities? and bad ones? i've read several opinons searching through posts but i thought it would be easier to condense into a separate topic. thanks guys

this doesn't seem like a popular topic, i thought more people would like to boast about their champions and their backround, of my first three posts on this sight i had highest hopes for this one oh well, i'm trying to research a little about plott bloodlines, what are you guys hunting for? brag a little, be humble, i'm game to listen, thanks a lot and good luck in the woods

I'm running some roy stiles/haug swampland bred plotts that my buddy bred a few years back....they are realy grity, game crazy, and awesome tree dogs... I have had good luck with them over the years on bear, lion and bobcat.... I breed raise and hunt them

Also try posting at plottnews.smfforfree3.com, although it seems that each one of those boards tends to lean towards one strain you'll get some good opinions. One of the reasons you not getting any responses is this exact same question is asked about every three months or less. Eventually virtually every line of Plott there has ever been is mentioned as the best by someone. Try a search and I'm sure more people will eventually answer. Good luck.

Best way to learn that is answer it for yourself, go hunting with some guys with plotts (most plott guys are super nice guys and like helping people out) on the game that you want to hunt and you should be able to get a good idea. I just run some grade dogs up here, my friend has had these dogs for 30 years and hes helped me out a lot.

I have really good luck with STAR MOUNTAIN. With a touch of Swampland. They are really good bear dogs. And get the job done on coon and lion.

I hunt Bluff creek-Shamrock, Swampland, Burnside/Weems, and some Salmon River x Bluff Creek, and a Ursus x Swampland cross. I like them all and they have done me a great job.

I started hunting Plott this season and as it is first of this kind here, not just me but all hunting buddies are surprised how well it behave.

I will stick to Plotts from now on!

My male is pochantas and wrights on top and buckeye and county line on bottom hunt coon and coyote. Very fast on coyote and very acurate on coon. Prob medium nose. Chop and bawl. Great watch dog. Handles really good could be a house dog. Smart and loves some fur in his mouth. My female is smiths and wickham on top and pioneer and silverwillow on the bottom. She's still young but has a colder nose than my male and is much louder.

i have a rule, i dont get dogs from breeders, i get dogs from hunters who catch game, im lucky to have the opportunity to hunt with different guys from canada and the US, it really gives you a handle on whats out there and what suits you, i run grade plotts, all from the same line except one, their nothing special, just a bunch of yard barkin potlickers that sometimes stumble upon a bear...

huh ? if ya gettin pups someone was breeding something . i hunt and breed what ya saying , i'm confused . you talkin about old men that breed a proven line of dogs , but aren't really able to hunt anymore ? or you just buy from young men still able to hunt but aren't really that exprienced at breeding , and just breed their dogs to each other . or are you talking about people that buy a certain line of dogs just to breed and let the pups prove theirselves in the woods ? the more i type the more confused i get , gettin old i guess , i stay confused

I don't have any of these dogs, but I see alot of them in the woods. As far as bragging on some that a man could probally get, I will have to make a second for the Gosnell breeding.
