Morning Coyote, Afternoon Fox

Post by nighthazzardhounds »

Redneckhounder, Dave and Dan came over for a day of hunting. We decided to hit one of our new spots. While heading into the block we came across some fresh coyote tracks. It did not take long for Daisy and Highball to open up on them. At this time Dalton cut in our pup Josie. At the far end of the block we spotted 3 coyotes bust out of some thick brush. Daisy and Highball were right behind them. The 5 of them disappeared up the side of a hill into some thick brush. Dalton was able to get a shot off as it ran by breaking its front leg. We heard them shortly after baying in the distance. Dave cut in his pup Tramp in at this time. After several more bay ups we spotted a coyote running across a field with all 4 hounds right on its tail. What a site, they rolled it twice before it finally reached some thickets. It broke again taking refuge in a barn where Dave finished it off. We tried to jump the other 2 but the heavy snow and blowing wind filled in all tracks. After lunch we decided to go out again and jumped 2 fox. Sissy, Tramp and our pup Haley pounded them for three hours before Dalton got a shot. All the hounds did a good job today.
