Yesterday started out with a 2 day old set of lion tracks. We figured why not and let the dogs loose. After a long time of them trying to make something of it I hiked into a canyon to get them back. I was able to get a hold of 2 dogs and put them back in the box. Normally I can call my pup to me, but she stayed on the move and was headed toward the road below where I figured I could pick her up. By the time I got to her she was about 200 yards below the road and was barking like she was treed. Not really knowing what she was doing I left the two other dogs in the box and went after her. After climbing through endless brush I located her just in time to see her take off. I figured I scared whatever was there and she was hot on the trail. She then treed about 150 yards across the canyon from me. I was really surprised to see this tom in the tree when I got there. This was a different cat than the two tracks we started earlier. My buddy made it to my 4 wheeler and let the other dogs out to give her some backup. Surprisingly this cat came out of the tree with all of us there and the dogs put it back up almost at the original tree. The last tree it only went up about 6 feet. It was a great day to have my 14 month old pup do what she did. She definitely deserved to chew on this one.
Congratulations to you Matt and Maggie too. That's awesome. Just made my day. Glad to see her doing good for you. Sounds like she's making a good one. Thanks for putting the time and work in and keeping her in the woods. Take care - Kevin
