This fall I rolled my truck tire up on the back end of my. Dog (not over her just kinda pinched her and backed up) she was sore but not really hurt. She got better but thedn went down hill at xmas time. She justed did not feel good I took to the vet and they did like a test for a 100 diffierent things which came back negitive. The only thing she has wrong was her gums are pink not red and heart beat is erratic. I asked bad heart valve they said no. I said coondog paralysis they said no. They don't have a clue. They gave me an antibiotic that would kill any infection that she could have but that did'nt help either They said if she did have a bad heart there's no fix. 2 months later she getting worse. I'm thinking blood clot at the heart from the accident or maybe her kidney's are shutting down. For 4 month she will barely get out of her kennel.

Did they check her for an autoimmune disease? I would ask to have her put on prednisone. It can't hurt. The down fall to this is if she has an autoimmune disease she will have to remain on this medication for the rest of her life.

There may or may not be a correlation between pinching her with the truck tire and her malaise. If it is her heart that is the reason for her listlessness, then there is no correlation between the two.

When a dog is displaying vague or very common clinical symptoms, the trick to determining what the cause may be is by ruling other possibilities out. This means providing your vet with a detailed history on every aspect of her existance, starting when you noticed her changes. It also means doing tests. You rule out all of the possible causes. You may not ever find out EXACTLY what is causing her behavior, but you can learn what it is not, and this is almost as valuable information as is learning the cause.......

You can have blood work done to determine if electrolytes, enzymes, organ function, etc all are withinn normal ranges. If you find a value that is ot of whack.......it;s a clue to investigate further.

You can have an ekg done on her heart to determine the exact rhythm, or arrhythmia as it may be. You can also have an echocardiography done, to try and determine the cause of the arrhythmia.


You never did mention her age?


Also, look to siblings and the health history of the dam and sire for clues to congenital illness.

Thanks for the help. I don't think the truck and her health were related but you never know I had the blood work which check for about 120 things and they came back ok. All the vets I took her to said she needed to go to michigan state u. And the test would start at $800 and go up but they did not think she would get back to normal again. Her mom was diognois with bone or brain cancer 4 years ago and she still hunts but she has no fat or musle in her head and she 10years old now. Those vets said same thing about her I've taken both dogs to different vet. I don't trust these vet's in my area ever since my old farm vet past away.
My dog died yesterday so she not suffering anymore so thanks for the help.
