Got the monkey off my back

Post by killroy »

Over the last four years I have had six draw tags for the Paunsaugunt for various reason I havn't been able to fill a tag until last week. We had a hunter from Long Island, New York draw the out of state tag. Because of his work he was unable to come until February 19. The week before we had a couple of small snow storms so we were hoping to still have some snow when we got there but we found most of the snow melted, wet sand and frozen ground in the mornings. The first two days we found quite a few old tracks frozen in the mud but nothing we could run. On the third day our luck changed and at 8 am we found a nice track walking ontop of the frozen ground, leaving a very fine print.

Image
After seven hours of trailing on frozen ground the cat finally was on dry ground and went to the base of this cliff.

The dogs trailed around into this cove and kicked the lion out. We actually watched the lion run and bail off the ledges.

My wifes plott dog, Wesley, led most of the chase.

Image
Minni the plott female was the first to find a way off the ledges and find the treed lion.

Killroy, What kind of pup is that you have standing next to Minni your plott female, if you don't mind me asking?
