running things that tree.

Post by ringo8585 »

Hi I'm pretty new to the hound game. I used to hunt hogs. I really like the varmints, I have some young dogs but promising. Is there a preference for long or short legged dogs? I'm trailing a couple dogs and one looks awful short to run long distant races. Should this be a concern? Or does the age old adage apply. Not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog?

Yeah that is kinda what I figured. I was more or less concerned about the endurance part. Thanks for the reply

as long as the dog can get it done and is matched up with the others you are running with its not a problem. unless you are running in deep snow then leg helps. you said beagle size but is there beagle in it? beagles are hands down tougher than most coon hound types i've had. they can go day in and day out.
now your diggin' where the 'tators are!

Yeah she has endurance for sure. I'm not sure about the beagle part. This weekend will be the first time I take her to the woods so we'll see. She supposedly is real good I only have two weeks to see though
