Cancelled the sale of the dog. Sorry can't say who the breeder is but he is a great houndsman with great dogs. I'm sure he will be able to take control of this dog alot better than I can, and he is aware of the dogs problems

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
this is what i was afraid of. that it would go back to one of the dog (whisperers)
that will teach the dog to have good manners when he is present. but when he is on his own he will continue to eat everything insight. and if the next person don't know any better and buys this dog under the tree with no trial he or she will be the next proud owner of their very own alligator. what the dog needs is a trigger man! but it will probably just get bounced around.

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
LOL! I dunno, the guy seems pretty determined to keep the dog. I have ran it with his and I could tell he was impressed. I really think that if the dog doesn't hack it for him, he won't hesitate to bust its brain. Disappointed I wasted 2 years of my time to go South in 2 months. Anyways, out with the old, in with the new

Slowandeasy,
So your gonna poke fun at someone that knows a lot more about dog behavior than you do? Pull that ignoragnt head out of your ass and get some fresh air. You've been smelling shit your whole life and apparently it has clouded your judgement of what training dogs and hound hunting really is.
But what the hell do I know, just some stupid kid that doesn't belive in beating my dogs to make them do what I want.

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
mackdog,
You must really have a drinking problem or something. You are constantly on here trying to pick fights with random people calling them names and trying to belittle them. You have very little to offer as far as good advice. So let me just say. I am sorry you were beaten up in high school and now suffer your adult years living with little man syndrome. Hope your day gets better after the hang over, I can't wait for this reply.

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
When I said poking fun at someone that knows about dog behavior I wasn't talking about me. I meant the "dog whisperer", not me! But think what you want, don't matter to me. I don't have good advice, NEVER DID NEVER WILL! Isn't the whole point of this forum for people to voice their opions towards hound hunting? You two are the ones starting the fight, not me. I'm never out to get in a fight, but I'm not afraid to call what I think is BS and I won't back down from someone that comes at me.
I'm the ignorant one, I'm the one that trys to expose a dog's breeder when someone else has had the dog for 2 years, I'm the one that makes fun of someones opinion, I do everything wrong and you are perfect. My bad. Try some constructive feedback, or did your prison education not go over what that means?

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
wow, I just read all this, is the "dog whisperer" really gettin brought in on this one! ha ha!
Not sure why all of a sudden this poor dog was made to be mean by being beat, sounds alot like the pitbull rescue crap! Oh the poor loving pitbulls were forced to fight against their will! Lets not loose sight of the fact that they were bred for it and like it! Far as a growley mean hound, I have a carhartt jacket that is missing a sleeve from a walker dog that wagged his tail, gave you the puppy eyes and just begged to be petted, til you got close enough to do it, and then he tried to rip your arm off! Complete counterfit SOB! That dog got passed along by his owner as well. You can take your baby em crap elsewhere, learn from example, do you see canine pack behavior goin down like you say a dog should be trained there Mackdog? No, you see an ass whippin determining dominance, the key is knowing when to stop applying dominance. I'd sure hope that the handler of any dogs is the dominant member of the team.

Ass whooping creates dominance, for certain. I tried to give my opinion, but once again it gets made fun of. Go talk to a hound hunter that doesn't use his dogs as strictly a killing tool. Might learn something and end up with dogs that are better than you thought.

I know better than to get in this discussion, but I find it very entertaining reading Mackdogs post and do not want to see him run off or abused. Way too much entertainment and has me wondering about the signature Smoke a pack a day.

Mackdog,
I agree with you to some extent. Whether you are training dogs, or horses, timing, and consistency is everything. If the particular animal does not know why it is getting corrected, it will have some kind of a negative impact on that animal. One thing we need to keep in mind, is all dogs have different personalities. What works on one may not work on the other.
Wanapasaki,
I had a dog that was given to me a couple years ago. The story I got, is that he was beaten when he was younger. The dog was kinda standoffish when I got him, but after 2 weeks of me spending 20 minutes a day sitting on his dog house, and gaining his trust, that went away. I had 3 childeren at the time with the oldest being 7 years old. I just felt I could not trust this dog around them. I sent him to someone without childeren, and the guy absolutely loves him. Another dog I aquired a couple years ago, started a fight with one of my dogs the day I braught him home, 3 days later he tried to take my arm off when he was in the dog box, that dog didnt come home. These are a couple experiences I have had, and the choices I made to deal with the problems. Hope it helps. Tim.

Re: Problem with agressive dog HELP!
Thanks Tim, the dog is going back to the owner. This dog sounds to me like a special case. I have raised the dog since it was 8 lbs. Now in the last 2 months the dog wants to kill me. He acts friendly and wags his tail but when I start to pet him, all hell breaks loose, including me defending myself from the dog attacking me. Its hard to know what all went wrong or if the dog was destined to become this way. It is what it is, and I will keep working with the other hounds that I have.
