cut dogs?
cut dogs?
I have a mature dog intact that thinks he has to piss on everything, I was wondering if I had him cut if it would help with that or being that he is older if it would still be just a habit. Also wondering what some of your thoughts on cut dogs vs intact is I know you hear people say that it makes them fat and lazy but I have seen some very good dogs that were cut. Just wanting to get some opions on it thanks.

i have a beagle that is a year and a half old and was cut when he was 8 months and he still lifts his leg and pisses on everything so i would say its a habit. as far as how they perform after they are cut i've seen and heard it go both ways. sorry im no help
but just what i've seen

I've seen many cut dogs piss everywhere whether it's there habit or they see it from others.

You don't see many people riding stud horses for pleasure or much anything else a cut dog makes a better dog . That is what Van Johnson told me just today, while I was visting with him while my buddy James was picking up a dog from him.

i believe that you lose a few years on the back end of a dogs life when ya cut them. they always end up looking like rain barrels on the back end of their life. the main reason that i hear the most, for people doing it is i just don't want any problams. well they make a lead pill for those problams. and if administered more often there would be much less (problams). as far as stud horses you are right. most people have no buisness owning a stud. but again a people problam. horsemen that own studs make it very clear that when they go out the back of the barn it's for pleasure, and when you go out the front of the barn your going to work. but no matter which end they are required to be a gentleman. ( horsemen not wanna be horsemen) just how i think about the subject. take care!

Slowandeasy. I agree. there are too many people who want to be horsemen and own stud that should not. Same with dogs that are intact. If its not something you know you are goin to breed to in the future (wich most dogs that are bred to should not be as well) then cut the dog. Just my opinion

What i have seen just my opinion is a cut dog wants to hunt not think of female dogs other males have think diffrent.Have seen males hump them .Think you can get good dogs from other breeders that do that was my opinion but now cant find a breed of curs i want not becouse of male but female . Was told breed/ keep best /keep breeding get better. Was happy with old dogs keep breed them not off spring my bad my opinion.think pissing male thing marking just as many others animals male as well as female.Just a thing have seen sure others have hunted longer know more.
