Plott blood-line question

Post by pet-kgt »

I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of or knows anything about a bloodline of Plotts called "BRANDONBERGER" (that may be mispelled)
I have a male plott that is supposed to be from that bloodline.
He is a natural bob-tailed dog and throws some bob-tail pups in every litter. This dog is almost totally silent on track. I use this dog to hunt hogs and he finds hogs when nothing else can.
I bought this dog from a government trapper in Louisana. When I bought this dog several years ago he told me about his bloodline but I have never seen or heard anything about this line since.
I figured you "REAL"---Plott hound people might know something about it.

I have a couple dogs that go back to that line and I use them for bear, coon, and yotes up here in wisconsin. They work well for me. Tree, bay and run good. I have not heard of them being naturally bob tailed though. I habe never seen one that was. I probally opened a can of worms now but, I have not seen one. MY dogs are open on track as well. But, over all they are a good line..

pet-ktg,
Spelling on papers should be Brandenburger as in Dale Brandenburger (I think I have it spelled right). Would you mind posting the names of the sire and dam and any other generations back that are on the registration papers. It would be interesting for others to see what's behind the dog.

Hey Joe,
Small world indeed! North Pocono grad? I've been here for 20 years. Coached at NP. What do you run and hunt out there? We mostly run coyotes and a little bobcat in the winter and coon in the fall.

I know Dale Brandenburger, and my family has hunted with him and his dogs since 1960. So if you have a dog that is bob tailed and silent on track I can almost garuantee you that it did not come from Dale Brandenburger's dogs.He might be half Brandenburger but I would say the other half if cur dog.

Brandenburger dogs

Post by hemihound0713 »

Repost to what i researched on my dog silver, as i didnt want to order the 7 gen ped, the dogs parents i had are wrong, but the father of these pups i got he has brandenburger in the 6th generation ped they have on him, that would make the pups a 7th gen decendant to the dog. Ill look up his name and put it on.

My old Dan dog and my Dan II and Timber dog go back to that Ursus Rowdy Plott, they are mostly all weems and white hollow bred, no brendenburger, but have a few of them Ursus dogs in the ped's, and to the fella that has the bob-tailed dog, I would have to agree with some of the other guys, those a probly bogus papers they gave ya, JMO, I have never seen a bob tailed Plott dog. He probly has a little cur in'em
