bear and hog with same dog

I have a catahoula qyp thats a pretty good hog dog, just doesnt have a real cold nose and hunts fairly close. I also have a reg. black & tan thats been a helluva coon dog that also treed a few bear, but he's gettn old and about blind from an accident. thinkn about breeding the two, hes silent on track and drifts a track nicely. wanna do this in an attempt to get some dual purpose hog/bear dog pups. In va we dont have big hog population but bear are thick. but my cats wont take a bear track. so with the cat blood and silent on track hound the should make good hog dogs and enough hound in em to be bear prospects. after rambling my question is how many of you consitantly catch hogs and tree bear with the same dogs?

I run b&t and plotts bear and hogs do good on both no problem.

I have seen straight hog dogs have a hard time gettin treeing down but if you start them on treeing young they should do great.

I run plotts on both, catch plenty of game. Anything is possible tho.

I run Plotts and BTs also and have no trouble catching hogs and bear with the same dogs. You might want to breed to a dog that will run both.

There are a lot of us north fl boys that use the same dogs on hogs and bear and have no problem but I have seen some hog dogs that would not have anything to do with a bear

I run catahoula/hound crosses, catch coon, hogs, bear, and lion with them. Most of my dogs are catahoula/plott crosses, but I have crossed a catahoula with every breed of hound I know of and they all work if the parents were good dogs.
