Very cool Brent. Were you able to use your own dogs? I have a friend that did some jaguar studies in Mexico and the hunts can be brutal for both the people and dogs. Looks like fun!

We took about 2 hours of video and over 600 photos so have some great memories...did not take any of my hounds on the hunt, harsh enviornment and the hounds Rocky has got it figured out way better than my ol pot lickers...
The jaguar killed a couple of his hounds 2 years ago and it was late one evening when ( believe it if you can) the big cat walked across a trail 100 yards in front of the toyota about an hr before dark...the bruah was so thick Rocky did not want to turn the hounds on it as he knew the cat would not tree from oast experience and it was only an hr till dark and if he fought the hounds in the thick under growth chances of loose hounds were to high....for 15 minutes Rocky went over the options, we went to where the cat disapeared and he said we have to try it, if your willing to get cut up a little and take a few cactus in your legs lets go.
The hounds were on the track and gone in 2 seconds....the cat made a sharp turn and came back onto the trail about 30 yards on a bend so we did not see it...the hounds ran it down the dirt track for about 200 yards and we could hear them baying on the ground, running to where they were the baying stopped and I thought thats not good!!!!!! but when we got close I looked and the only decent tree 30 yards off the dirt track and there sat a huge spotter cat very unhappy to be up there with 4 hounds wanting to tear into him..no time for photos in the tree....hounds were caught and the dart was in his hip pocket....then he really got an attitude...
deep growling, hounds going crazy and 2 foot dager leaves giving me some good pokes made it a bit western, then the big cat looked at me as he was on his way down that tree and I was far too close for what I felt good being and a hand full of frantic baying hounds dragging me closer....when the jagag hit the ground running he was about 8 frrt away...something I will not soon forget.
We had to get another dart into him and that is more of a story...
We caught him in the perfect place and with hounds right out of the box that were fresh, Rocky knew the risk , he gave it alot of thought and looked at the whole picture and it worked...he is a true professional and a great guy to hunt with, his wife Monica kept us fed and made came a great place to be...will head back next season for sure.
