Couple Hits Mountain Lion on Motorcycle, Driver Transported Via Mercy Flight to Benefis

A strange accident involving a motorcycle and a mountain lion has left a couple from Jefferson City seriously injured.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a husband and wife were traveling south on I-15 between Clancy and Helena on their motorcycle when they struck a mountain lion near mile-marker 186 around 8:00 PM Saturday.

Troopers on scene tell us neither were wearing their helmets, the husband, who was driving, was transported to Benefis via Mercy Flight for head injuries and his wife was treated for minor injuries in Helena.

The mountain lion did not survive the incident and MHP says speed or alcohol were not factors in the accident.
