thats all i've known
I was raised deer hunting with dogs. An old timer by the name of Walt Stone taughtg me everything i know about deer hunting these foothils in CA.I have a only had one deer dog in the last 4 or 5 years. He is a 7 year old rat terrior annd 1/8 beagle mix. A guy i met raises them in Jackson,CA. They are relativly small but kick ass on deer. You dont want a huge dog that can totally run down the deer anyway. My dog rigs, runs, tracks, and occasionally bay up on a buck. A doe he will run for about 100 yards(i think just to see if their are some bucks around) but has rigged a pretty old track. One day last year we didnt see shit all day and he rigged and basically showed us where three different bucks were bedded.

They use dogs in Ireland to run stag with. I personally have never done it. People that come to hunt hire a guide that provides hounds and will take you on a hunt.
As with the fox, mink and hare hunting, stag hunting is under attack in Ireland by the Irish Council Against Blood Sports. Hounding started in Ireland back in the days of the Celts and the hound is a legendary Celtic symbol aswell as the stag. It is a shame to see that over 1,000 years of history and tradition are being lost due to the animal rights groups. Here are some hound and bird dog hunting links for Ireland aswell as a news story.

Deer Dog what the tarr nation is up your chair too get ya blowen hot / they are coon & biggame hunters who don`t use their hounds too run a deer and wounder why your posten about it anyways. I aggree with them but realize our USA hounds come mostly from Ireland,England,Russia and France and was origionally used for stagg, hairs& pig !I neted too Mss Tressa I was glad she is picking up futhering there now in Ireland cause she come there reciently from the USA. Openions may change but facts remain and thats the beginning of the lot that helped start the hounds in the states.
But if as you say were you come from folks don`t put up with someone elde belittleing their dogs and some one can get hurt/ and your goen too look into all this deeper (hey bubba) don`t let that cannary asswhole overload your tweety bird mouth cause around here ya might of just bet stakes you don`t want too assett-up and there plenty here maybe can`t win a gloden glovestitle but the know fung-go bat & crow bars and loggen chains/ hahahaha
