Weekend Success

Post by diego25Jaramillo »

Got tired of waiting for snow so my brother and I decided to take the dogs out and see if we couldnt try our luck at some dirt lions. We got a slow moving race going at about 7 in the morning. dogs were taking it pretty slow so I figured we had a bobcat race. Dogs showed treed at about a mile out so we decided to walk in and see what was there. We got to the tree and saw a bunch of false treeing mutts as there was nothing in the tree  We gathered up the dogs and started walking the direction where we thought the cat had bailed to. Sure enough we got them back on the track and they moved on out. Six and a half miles later we are able to get gps signal on them and they show treed. We start our hike in to the tree at 1 in the afternoon. The weather had gotten pretty warm so we didnt have high hopes on finding them on any cat being that cats leave such little scent. We made our approach to the tree with the thought of a bobcat in the back of our mind. Much to our surprise the dogs had treed a long tail. I didnt have time to get the dogs on video starting the track as by the time I got the video camera out they had already started moving out but here are some pics and a video at the tree. Enjoy!

Tigger, its funny, the older walker looking hound I have had for awhile but have never really used him on any lion races. I would pretty much just use him as a bear dog or as a walk in tree dog for lion. This race, he was one of the front runners pounding out the track. Interesting to see what your dogs can do when given their fair share of opportunities.

Congrats. Should make you feel pretty high of your dogs capabilities now. It dont get any better than that. Great pictures. Good luck the rest of the season.
