You or anyone with you NEED to purchase a lion tag $322 for non res. $30 for res plus a $12.50 conservation stamp. That tag holder needs to be present during the time of the hunt from the time the hounds are released till the tree. You can choose to not harvest the lion and use the tag and pursue lions as long as the season is open or the quota has not been filled in that particular area. Just remember you CANNOT pursue a lion without a tag holder present. Also you cannot hunt lions with your hounds and accept compensation. So you cannot take money or any other compensation from the tag holder unless you are a licensed Wyoming outfitter or guide. Good luck

Just sell your dogs for a couple of days or lease them to your friends for a couple of days

Ummm that makes no sense. Someone is still going to have to have a tag to even have the dogs out hunting.

Set um straight Posse....it's that kind of attitude that gives hound hunters a bad name...if you don't want to pay, don't play the game....

The guys that want to go have already bought the tag and are Wyoming resident's. No way in hell the can or will lease or borrow my dogs, that was the question what I needed to do as the handler and just a favor to good friends. Thanks for the input folks also finally got a call back from the local game rep and he also said I was to have no weapon of any kind without a tag.

The game rep told you could go run dogs and catch a cat for the other guys without having a tag yourself? as long as you did not have a weapon?

I don't know what a game rep is? Are you talking about a warden or a biologist or? You can run your dogs as long as there is a tag holder present does not mean the houndsman himself.

Bighorn if you would read a little slower a Wyoming resident has a tag that said if you want to run your dogs you would have to do as bighorn said or as I said if you get caught running your dogs with out a permit they will give you a ticket for harassing wildlife I don't care what the warden told you if your name is on those dogs or they can prove they are yours they will ticket you there is a whole section in the regs about it bighorn is right you can not run dogs without a tag and if you own the dogs you better have a tag

Yes the game warden said as long as I the houndsmen did not have a gun or bow or what ever to harvest the lion. And who ever the tag holder is was there from the minute we dump on the track till the lion was tagged then all is well.
