Wondering if anyone had any luck with dogs that people jut had them as pets and they turned to be good dogs I picked up 3 of them 5,6 and 9 month old Black and Tans figured I'd give it a try they were free so I'm out a little dog food if they don't work. Just curious

I know of several damn good dogs than came this way to a hunter, and turned out really good. At first it was hard to convey the hunt was the way the dog pleased its new owner. Also have seen some flops as well. Noticed most were really trashy at first.

Folks get a long eared, lovable looking pup, and then it grows up and aint so lovable anymore. I got a Black and Tan several years ago that was 3 years old . Been a back yard pet from time it was a puppy. Turned out to have some high powered blood lines and was the coldest nosed dog I have ever had. Took to hunting like a duck to water. Sometimes you get lucky.
when in doubt turn em out

I got a little walker pup at 3 to six months old for 30 on craigs list that was going to be just a family pet. I am glad I got her, she is now a little over two and working out great.
