We are building cement water tanks at several sites around the ranch.
It's a deer hunting ranch in Lion country.
Would it be better to build the tanks in heavy cover or out in the open?
Where are the lions least successful?

Re: Locations Advantages to Deer and Not Lions
Don't give the lion cover to sneak up on them. So I would say open and far enough from thick cover to give them time to react. Lions have a very fast leap and run for 20-30 yards then run out of gas.
They will still get them coming and going from the water... if there are alot of lions I would think you could get people to pay to hunt those too.

Thanks Tom, That's what I thought.
The whole idea is to get deer water but a dead deer can't drink...
