hard time starting track?

Post by perky »

i got a walker thats proven himself alot this season, he is my strike dog and this winter he's been really weird. usually when he has a really good strike ya drop him off the box and he'd open up and get the track going right off the back and we'd have a race. but lately since bout late Nov. every good strike he's had he can't get the track going. couple times he'd go out in the woods a little and open up once or twice but this winter has just been shitty. any advice would be great thanks.

a change in conditions can show you what you have for a trackdog . i had a nice little black n tan coonhound that treed a pile of coon ,but when it got cold and dry looked like crap .rigging and actually running the track are two different things . give the dog time that you wouldnt normally give it on a good strike and make him try to work it out . dont just load up and move on .failure over and over again is hard on a dog . you may just need more of a trackdog to fit your hunting. good luck.
