Hey Everyone,
I am in the process of building a dog box. I am going to build it with Aluminum frame and diamont cut shell. The question I have is: I am using 3/4 inch square stock so what can I use for insullation? Also, what is your opinion for the top and the floor for material? Some use wood for top and floor and some use the diamond cut. What works the best in your opinion? Thanks Jon

I just built one that sits on my bead rails I used 1/8 th inch mill aluminum on top and 1/16th inch diamond aluminum for sides. I used 1x1 1/8 inch tube to build my frame. I didn't insulate mine and it stays plenty warm.

Thanks that sounds like the same material I am using. I have always had wooded boxes and I got guys telling me that if I use aluminum that it gets too cold in the freezing weather. I guess if it does get cold I can add insullation later. Thanks Jon

I have three alimunum ones. I throw a scrap of carpet on the floor and then put straw or pine shavings in in the winter. Mine has vents but I am always more worried about it getting too warm than too cold. If you keep the wind of em, have something to cover the floor and have a few dogs in a box, they will probably be fine.
