Well tracker we here in washington don't have the high power dogs you in utah do, oh and general hound season is illegal so we have a few more bears than what you have down there.

Lots of bears

Piglet,
I have had days like that in Eastern Washington as well. It was right after the ban too. I saw six bears in one valley and another on the way home. Yep, we got a few bears in Washington. Tooo bad we don't all get to hunt them a bit.

Oh if you can handle fish and game I'm pretty sure I could find a couple potlickers in this state to catch a blackie or two.. I just said general hound season for bear was illegal, theres still Indian reservation where tribal members can hound hunt and some tree company land that can do hound hunting..

Well I gotta say I wouldn't complain about an overbundance of bear to chase. So I envy the fact of you seeing 7 bears. That would be an awesome sight to my sore eyes. But on my travels today horn huntin' I would have to say that your right about them being out I seen beartrax and bearscat that I plan to chase next weekend when our general chase season opens. Hope to have some pics for ya'all.

I've seen that many bears in one huckleberry patch in September in Asotin County in southwest Washington.

Bears out in Utah? You sure that wasn't sasquatch lookin for sheds? I hiked all over kingdom come last weekend to see if I could locate one to run next weekend and zip, nada nothin. I did find a few lions that I ran and several sheds but no bears. Nothin better than runnin a lion on the dirt where you can actually WALK! Did it look like they were moving? Down low? Up high in the snow?

Yeah if your wonderin...I'm jealous.

well without telling ya to much about where I'm going this weekend Ill tell ya the bear sign I seen wasn't much lower than the snow line. It was about the same elevation as I was when I started finding deer sheds but lower than elk sheds. Keep scouting you'll find them and good luck to ya. I will congradulate ya on the lion though I agree it sure is nice walking on dirt instead of sinking in the snow!

Yea hard to believe.. But My first time I saw a bear in a Tree, we happened to lose the dogs for a couple days.. I counted 11 bears and One Mountain Lion all while trying to find the dogs.. We actually had to walk through a Sow and a Cub that were about 200 yards away from the Tree just looking over to see what all the rukus was about..

you would be looking over a unit that day listening for a Dog and watching three separate bears all at the same time.

The Mountain Lion we spoted I actually thought was my buddies Dog Until I called for it.. and I noticed that It didn't run like A dog..It bounded more like a Cat.. My Friend sure did give me allot of crap for that..]

Sure haven't had another weekend like that though..

I seen these 7 all on south faces my GPS said elevation was 2700ft rocky bluffs and where deer winter but not the elk, If the weather would warm up to 6o or 70 degrees in spokane I would not be there because of rattlesnakes, and lots of them. but we haven't hit 50 degrees yet this spring..
