Here's a story about a long lion hunt in utah. I have quit posting photos on here due to the negative feed back, but I could not resist this time. my brother drew a limited entry tag for my favorite unit this year. we hunted our tales off and all we could find was females and one huge tom that we didn't get to the tree till dark. my brother doesn't have hounds and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him shoot one of them females(we treed 4). now he full understands and appreciates why. I got a call from a couple buddies about a lion track they found while shed hunting. I got up there and chased him on a sunday, but he gave us the slip. we drug the road on the way out and came back thursday. the tom had crossed the road, but it looked like about tuesday. I put some dogs down and we slowy cold trailed the tom down into hell! the dogs started to give out about 10 am when it got hot. we watered them in a spring and coaxed them back onto the track. about an hour later he was treed!!! been a while since I seen a tom with that kind of age on him. I've got one happy little brother right now! enjoy SCN1468_zps6d41d0b8.jpg[/IMG]

"Houndn'Ems Blueticks" if it smells like a cat, they'll catch it.
here's a shot of the teeth.missing a k-9 and the two year line was aout 3/8 long. teeth between the k-9 were nubs, but still sticking above the gum line. not quite gray enough in the face to be too old. I guessed 6 or 7??? anybody that knows better than me feal free to take a guess

I helped out a biologist for a couple days this winter collaring cats up here in B.C. He was telling me that the best way to determine age on a cat is to measure the k9 drop. He said roughly count every millimeter of tooth drop for every year of age. so that would make this cat around 9.5 years old. which judging by the teeth might be true, although if you measured it really tight though for aging purposes you might come up with a a year or 2 less. Nice cat though. Awesome pics !!
SUPER COOL!! You will never forget that day with your brother.
I have often wondered why a houndsmen would take a lesser cat for themselves then take an awesome cat for a dude? Sure dont make sense to me. You did well.
I took a Good TOM for my wife years back. Really old with a broken K9 as well he looks good mounted. Spend the $$$$$ and get the full mount you wont regret it.
Just like gold buckles won, money will always dissapear but the trophy will remain.
