Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
I have been informed nothing will change in Oregon and Sen. Jackie Dingfelder continues her reign of terror on wildlife management in Oregon and like her cronies within the HSUS, will continue to do more destruction to wildlife and management that could only be rivaled by dropping a bomb on wildlife! Ignorance and lack of the truth with who and what replaced all of us sport hunters has prevailed. Below is my position that is shared by only a select few. This whole Government thing sticks in my craw like sand! Special thank to ODFW for the power point presentation on cougars that expressed and exposed the facts we need no further assistance since the report given stated there are currently 21 active contractors in Oregon and at least one on call agent in every county in Oregon....Gee, I wonder why we need more hunting? Remember H.B. 2971 was passed and could be used but ODFW declines given they only want our dollars and don't like you or your hounds!
Looks like the long road to proper Big Game Management is over for Oregon with Senator Jackie Dingfelder holding up H.B. 2624 and keeping this off the floor for a vote that would possibly pass. Animal rights activist like Dingfelder do more to destroy animals across America by allowing ignorance and the majority population instead of science manage wildlife. With urban sprawl, we have a need to manage, wildlife can no longer keep a proper balance without harvesting on a controlled basis. Special thanks to both Senator Fred Girod and our much loved District Rep. Sherrie Sprenger for staying the course for what is right!
Looks like a rank bait set over a mechanically fired cable snare will continue to be the only tool allowed for black bear management. If you think this is trapping, you have no clue about trapping! Time for all citizens to voice an opinion about the use of rank baits and snares vs. a hound that allows for management selection where the snare catches all bears drawn for miles, even those who cause no problems are killed in the name of the only "management tool available". Those sows with the baby cubs will continue under liberal management or politically driven folks in Salem, will continue to be destroyed and those baby cubs as little as ten pounds will continue to be shot and tossed over the bank, out of sight and out of mind and labeled as "unknowns" under the USDA Federal Government program funded on the backs the same folks who despise sport hunting, liberals and not to mention the five remaining employed tax paying citizens of Oregon!
Management cougar will also continue to be hunted by Government agents and hired contractors with hounds, yes the same types that are prohibited for use by sport hunters and those mandated males, females and kittens, all of them that are treed over Government hounds will continue to be euthanized by the agent and hauled to the landfill and dumped like garbage and you the tax paying citizen and sport hunter will continue to pick up the tab to grow and expand Government at a time when Oregon is flat broke! Never mind the cost, look at what Government does vs. private sport hunting, this is worse than the hatchery steelhead that were being clubbed and dumped years ago at the Fall cr. Hatchery on the Alsea river. This is any thing but management, this is simply slaughtering our precious wildlife and needs to stop!

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Mike, just out of curiosity, do you have any numbers on the cost of this government wildlife control? I'm assuming someone argued the point of taxpayer cost vs revenue generated by sport hunting. Just wondering what kind of numbers were talking about.
Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Mondo, the cost has been posted on here before. It doesn't matter what it costs to these people, all they care about is shoving their beliefs down our throats. They want to save everything from spotted frogs to dirt and don't care at what cost. They are going to save this world to death! Probably by financial strangulation. I have seen how they operate first hand since the Spotted Owl BULLSHIT in the early 80's. They live life through kaleidoscope eyes man. Peace lol
Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Mr. Mike,
I agree 100% with what you are saying. The sad thing is it’s going to be the Eulogy of the entire US if people don’t wake up and notice what’s going on around them. Just look at the latest big scandals and who we have voted in to very powerful positions. Everyday our Constitution and Bill of Rights is being stepped on by our current administration.
Folks if you want to lose all your Outdoor Liberties to Big Brother than just keep sitting in your chair watching TV. This Government wants full control of everything in our lives. They want us totally dependent on them and complete sheep.
Government ran Wildlife Control & Management monopolies are doing nothing for the Outdoor Enthusiast but taking away what little outdoor freedom we have left.
Numbers mean nothing to these control freaks, unless it’s a vote to keep them in their authoritarian power positions. These people are tyrants and love nothing more but to rain down their miserable way of life on everyone. They live a complete pilgrim lifestyle, a lifestyle of thinking that they are in the woods when walking a bike trail or playing golf. They know nothing about Wildlife Management. All they know is how to rule over people and destroy the lifestyles of people that don’t live like them in the concrete jungles.
When California Hound Hunters fought with these bought and paid for tyrants you quickly learn that nothing matters but how their vote is going to affect their position of authority. You can throw facts and figures at them all day long and you are not going to change their vote.
California Hound Hunters were allowed only a few minutes during each of our committees to give quick testimony to the committee members by giving them facts and figures about hunting with hounds, wildlife management and shed some light on the negative effects, cost effects, and public safety effects, the bill would have on the state if passed.
A lot of Senators and Assembly Members were sitting in their seats staring into their smart phones probably texting their mistresses, some were getting up and leaving the room without even giving the courtesy of sitting and hearing both sides testimony. It absolutely didn’t stop them for casting their bias vote. The truth is their vote was bought and paid for by HSUS, or they could simply careless and knew exactly how their district leaned toward so they weren’t about to rock their boat of their voters.
California is so broke its releasing dangerous felons out of state prison by the thousands to save money and at the same time doing everything in their power to disarm the honest taxpaying citizens of the state. Yet these foolish Politicians figured it was wise to take freedom from the citizens of California that provided a service to the state and generated revenue and give that business to the government to handle. Folks that’s the definition of tyranny!
It’s a total corrupt system based on Politicians willing to sell their soles to keep themselves in an authoritarian position.

Does anyone think that every once in a while you may need to purge the system??? Sort of a cleansing.

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
All I can say is, if we don't remove a pile of these deadbeats during midterm elections, we as a nation are finished! I'm sure many one this board will be happy to see me remove myself from politics and forget about fighting for our rights in Oregon. I have given this a solid go since 2009 and no point in continuing. One huge victory for Oregon hound hunters was the end of bird nesting. I will push for some non lethal extended training and see how this plays out. Most guys just want to listen to a dog bark! I'm pretty simple and could get along fine with just being able to train my dogs and leave me the hell alone!
I keep thinking about all the cool hunts I have made during this fight and would rather post stories and b.s. about the good times.....I just don't feel good about hunting and knowing most of our younger generation will never experience what I and several of the older members on this board have had the great fortune to experience in our lifetimes....Thanks to Buddy W. for putting up with the political rants!
The sign in my window now reads...... Sorry closed, Gone Hunting!

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Mike, thank you for all the time and money you have tied up in this! I know you have been ridiculed and cut down numerous times for being to radical and out spoken on your view points. Well guess what..... Thousands of extreme radicals put us in this position and there is no way just one is gunna get us out of it! Someday maybe people will realize warm & fuzzy just don't cut it against these enviros. You and i will never see it in our lifetimes but i believe a generation will come along and put an end to the radical swing of the pendulum. Once again THANK YOU!

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Thanks Guys.
Here is another recent reason why I fight stated below.....
I made a spring spot and stalk bear hunt down in S.W. Oregon with a couple of good friends that had tags and needed some help on the Wild Rogue river and the first thing I encountered was a gal in a pickup looking lost and driving around at dusk. We pulled up to her pickup on Forest Service ground. (Our Property) and asked if all was okay and she replied, yeah, I'm calling spotted owls for the Forest Service and I'm out of Coos Bay Oregon!
Let your mind run wild and read in to how this will play out for our access and ability to recreate, hunt, fish, trap, camp, mine, drive in the near future. These S.W. Oregon Counties are like all in Oregon, so broke no one can even pay attention. Low and behold we can fund the hell out of spotted owl studies to support more closures where we found one ten year old logging block that she targeted and nothing else logged in recent years, while just to the north on private grounds the logging continues as much as possible until the reports end up showing a decline in a damn bird destined to inbreed itself out of existence over time according to scientist studies. We will kill all forms of industry and economic prosperity to save a damn rock or dirt in Oregon!
Economic prosperity is measured in one billion dollars in wildfire suppression during peak fire seasons annually in Oregon alone, why the hell are these counties starving to death when we have a lush renewable resource like timber that should be our main stay for economics. This just simply pisses me off and then I get the reports that read our black bears are being snared like they are on the locked property we can't step one foot on without being arrested and we sport hunters and tax paying citizens pick up the tab in increased license and tag fees set by our very own State Government Fish and Game, additional laws passed to help fund these programs by the same damn politicians that just killed us all off!...... You don't have to be real bright to know we are screwed!
I for one think the time to act is now with Government. File a lawsuit for our God given rights! We just proved we can pass legislation in Oregon if given a chance to vote and the reason behind this being sheltered by one liberal Senator.Appeals and injunctions would define our vocabulary just like the hippies do to us all the time! I go back to the member who has the classic stated on the bottom of all his post. If you find yourself engaged in a fair fight, your tactics suck! Bloomberg just stated seconds ago, we will be back for all your guns! This crap just never ends!

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
I guess ya'll all heard the story of the poor woman that called 911 and said an old boyfriend was breaking into her house and the dispatcher said she did not have anyone to send because the county laid off most of their police force. The dispatcher told the poor woman to ask him to leave!! The woman ended up raped. I do not understand liberals at all!!!!! Why didn't this woman have a gun for protection? The same man put her in the hospital 2 weeks before! This was in Oregon and the county said it is broke! No reason for this non sense!! Liberals must be voted out or nothing will ever change!!

Re: Eulogy for wildlife management across the West
Hey Mike
Thanks for all your work but we ain't done. This stuff makes me as sick as it does everyone else on this site. But, it doesn't surprise me at all. We went through a very simalar thing with the fight for the catch and release sturgeon fishng on the Columbia River. The propaganda that the F&G put out was rediculas. The lies that Brad Kady who works for Washington F&G put out was so terrible. There were a few of us guides that worked with the F&G to get a study on what was really happening on the sturgeon and he would tell us one thing on our boats then another when we got to the meetings. The wildlife never is the issue. It is always what political gain or money is gotten that matters. We are stressing the sturgeonout catching them below Bonneville Dam, is what we are told yet more than 100 more oversize are hooked up in the estuary on lite gear but that is okay. We stress them out when we use the correct gear but when brad uses a rope with a shad on the end of a big hook then tug-a-wars the fish up, that doesn't stress them. I told them in a meeting that I get stressed every time I drive through Portland but it soesn't mean it is going to harm me or kill me. Does catching a fish stress them? Yes, but it doesn't mean that stress is detremental to their life. I have to get off my soap-box or I will write for a week about this. We all have to remember the fight is not over and we all need to get involved. Not everyone can go to meetings, write emails, make phone calls, talk to our politians and media, send out letters, talk to our friends and the many other things that can be done but we can all do some of it. We are in an age of the tree hugger. There is no room or time to just complain to each other while hunting or fishing about what is going on. We need to all act in some way or another and if a guy doesn't do a part, don't complain. One thing we did that helped a little to educate some of the politians and media was take them on an oversize fishing trip and let them see how itis done, properly. I have fished for sturgeon for over 40 years and have never had an oversize sturgeon not swim away. Our hunting needs everyone but it so many times seems that we can never agree on anything as hunters and fishermen. The compound users hate the cross bow, the rifle hate the muzzle loaders, the trappers hate the hound guys, the down river fishermen hate the up river fishermen and through all of this we cut our own throats. I wa at a sportsman show in Ohio and a guy selling food plot seed was also selling t-shirts that had "high fence" with a red X through it. I wnet to him and asked him if he thought that was a bit hypocritical and he siad "no" I then told himthat if he had a big plate of brownies on his table, I wouldn't need a high fence to keep me around them. I would stay right at his table until they were gone. He laughed and told me Ihad a good point. I encouraged him that we need to all stick together. If high fence hunts are not for him then don't do it. It is not for me either, right now but for some it is. We need to stop fighting with each other and fight the enemy. Thanks again for your work, Mike and I will continue to get this stuff out to my customers. I know that several out of state customers sent emails out. Let me know what is needed. I now, after a fight with computers, have a facebook page that Ican put things on. Let me know.

It's all part of UN agenda 21 and the push to destroy the American urban lifestyle and move people out of the country and into the cities, it's called sustainable development, but is anything but that
