trapping coons
trapping coons
wats a good thing to trap coons with i have never traped anything and want to learn how to trap.. and start my new pup out on coons then work him up to lions
get a live trap and set it with marshmellows in it that works good. or if you got footholds just make a pocket set near a creek or river and put fish in the back of the hole you should get one that way. there are alot of good trapping sites you can look up that can give you good information
cant never could

What's the trick?
Well, I finally shelled out the $$ for a good live-trap and figured I'd just go down to the river, set the trap with some marshmallows, and wait for the coon to come runnin'. HAH! I waited two days with the trap in one spot with no luck so I moved it last night. This afternoon when I took my dog down to check the trap and it had been tripped alright! So I sneak in there to make sure it wasn't a skunk, thank God it wasn't, just a stinkin' possum! Well I figured I'd make the best of it by dousin' him with some coon scent. I let her have a go at him in the cage...then let him out to lay a trail for her to follow. Apparently his home wasn't more than 50 yards away because soon I could tell her head was in a hole. He denned up quick with 45 lbs of Plott dog on his tail.
Any ideas on how to eliminate trapping anything but coon...there's also bobcat tracks all over the area...what would I used to attract one of them or a coon. Last time I used marshmallows scattered around and inside with a little dish of Peanut Butter and Honey. That seems to be good bait for Possums
