Best Time For Pups To Be Born

Folks what would you say is the most beneficial time (month) for pups to be born to optimize their training/hunting opportunities? Might depend on the seasons in your area.

I like pups born in June/july that puts them into midwinter old enough to run cougar and lynx with the big dogs. Then at 10 months they are ready for bear season, by the time they hit 1 they usually have been on 30-40 trees giving them a good start in the hunting department.

Sometime between January and March. Puts them at the most influential time of their lives. With a full season for them to experience the best and the worst of everything. I personally hate wasting a prime season, waiting for a juvenile to grow up. NO FREE RIDES AROUND HERE!

Willie, when are your seasons? Are you only running lion? When do you figure your pups can start hunting.

I like for mine to be middle of January to first part of March. My last litter was born in Feb and they will be able to start going in training season for VA when it opens up in August and get them to trees and use to riding in the box with big dogs. Already got them loading on their own. Wont really push them till kill season in December when they are about 9 months or so.

Nov. works best for me in wv.Can work with them in the spring.Old enough to start following hounds in May.
