What is the easiest way to keep up with when your Johnson collars are about to go dead or do you just wait till they stop working

Its hard to tell, you could log your hours there on, or just estimate. Also if you only hunt one portion of the year you will want to leave them on for about 24 hours every few months. That's at least what johnson told me. Had a couple collars brand new only used them once, sat them on the shelves for a year or so, tried to use them all five stone dead.

your collars probably were not dead but more than likely stuck in the off position. That is why they say to take the magnets out once a month. You can usually tell when a collar is going dead when your not getting as good of a signal with the collar, sometimes they will start to beep wierd also.
