How do you train your pups?

I am in east tennessee and have been wanting to train a bobcat dog for a while now but my newest prospect was killed. Now in a few weeks when i get my new pup i want to make sure i dont make as many mistakes. I figured why not learn from people who have good cat dogs.
So any tips or how you train your pups to run southeastern bobcats would be awesome.

Start off with obedience the better it minds the easier it is when it comes to game exposure. Andy

If you have raised hounds before or have trained a coon or bear dog you'll be fine. Just instead of the other game your just putting them on cats... Try to age a dog around snow when the dog is 6 7 months hope to have snow so you can obviously be only letting it run cats and also just walk tracks out with the cat. In your country try to find rocks and you will usely find the cats... But just like what twist said Obedience is where to start after that everything will be eqasier and more fun... jmo

Thanks for the answers so far I will for sure make obediance a primary objective of mine. It will work out all right he will be around 5-8 months when I have snow here. So we will see how it goes. Anymore tips would be great help.

If your going to trap some to release, make a trap that is around three times taller than it is wide (box traps)...you'll catch more.

Thank you for the advice Mr. McDonough, i will keep that in mind when trying to catch one. I need all the help i can get on catching one haha
