Dog Boxes

Post by PaulJames1 »

Hey everyone on BGH, can anyone of you list some supplies I will need to make a dog box. I'm talking about like hinges, paint, and stuff like that. Which paint is the best, etc. Thanks

When I build mine I always use 1x1 steel square tubing and angle for the frame work. On the door for the rear I the 1x1 tube for frame and have some expand metal that weld on to close opening on back and area around door. For my latch I used a basic gate latch from lowes as its cheap. For the hinge just used piano hinge and screwed it to door and frame. Best paint ive found and like is the krylon paint. Included photos of my box. I have since redid the rig rack to go all the way from front to rear and angling up about half way to make the rig portion in the front 16 inches tall. About to build myself another box of almost an exact copy with a few improvements. I have hinged side panels made of wood on my current box that flip up and latch. For the new box im going to use some diamond plate left over from the top for the side and going to use a quick release pin to hold them. You can get some good deals on hardware from McMaster-Carr and they have a wide range of stuff to make it how you want.

Thanks
Matt
