So how do you field judge or determine what animal to take? I understand each person has there criteria for what they want. Personally I wouldn't ever shoot a sow that had cubs legal or not.
For lions what are your criteria for making a kill? Male vs. Female...is there a key to distinguishing them apart (yeah I know

) while in the tree?
For bear is it size/sex?
What do you all consider acceptable?
Boy ya asked a question that has more than one pat answer depending on each situation there.
Personally, other than hide hunten for coon I didn`t care too kill the game (coon out of season no & only 1 adult coon of multipal coons up the tree in season)
Never sold but 1 large bobcat hide and never killed another bobcat because they got scarce for a few yrs due too trappers & high furr prices in the midd 70`s .
Mtn lion (in Ca. no can kill em (detramation permitts hunting just along with myu dogs too and someone else usually the one with the dispatch permit kills the cat
Bear out of season cant dispatch can`t even carry a gun out of season in the (allowed area set aside too run) and in bear season, well no yrlns.,no cubs,no sows that to apear have sighn did suck this summer/hell they usually dont sit up but from 16 ft too 25 ft. off the ground an ya can wait arouns and see em and deturmond if its a sow usely so if not and its a good heavy full growm gear but hidden by evergreen branches/ I just don`t know ? I might shoot i time, maybe not the next time? And I wouldn`t shoot it any ways but some dude along with us will. Actually I carry a long knife/not that I plan on fighten a bear with it but its what I brung if had too use a wepon/ no I ain`t no crazzd-eye pig hunten Diago...hahahaha
I kind of think killen game isent part of why I`m there hunten, though I let my dogs get woolen and blood on em. I like hunten and enjoyeing my hounds an seeing others dogs perform on big game too, andthe shareing of commenroddery with other hunters on the track/tree up walken in and out from the tree , and back at camp/ that the world I`m hooked up to mostly.
Yes I`ve seen lots of game fall out of the trees but I didn`t do it and didn`t care if others did / ya have a choice if its wrong goen too hapen/ just say see ya and start back out too the truck, your dogs in leash an beingled out. Most of the guys Ive hunted with agree between um and if one says I thike that a sow that could have littleones pass on it all together.
On bobcat in Ca. if ya see spots on the belly ya know its a female and ya don`t kill a female bobcat ya save em for the species.
And on coon ,no hound hunter is goen too shoot a sow coon up in the tree with kitten coon seen up anyweres around in other near-by trees or up the same tree with the kittens/ them that can`t fathem that sportsman view I cull and don`t let it not get untold too other hunters I know.
