$600 to a $1000 for nice tom tanned. untanned hides of nice tom usually go for around $300 to $500

Just go to taxidermy.net and look in the classified section. They are a bit high but you have a better chance of getting a hide that was properly taken care of and properly tanned. Make sure to ask who tanned it. Never buy a self tanned hide of anything without looking at it first.
I buy a lot of lion hides each year but get most of mine from our state auction because they are green/fresh and not tanned. Tanned female hides in excellent condition should run around 350-400. Toms will be 400-800 depending on size. Tanning costs for a LS lion hide runs $140-160 and skinning and preparing the skin for tanning is around $100-125 so if you subtract those costs, that tells you what you should be paying for an untanned fresh skin.
