Flatlander here making a trip through the mountains this winter.
Looking for reviews on snow tire chains. I am looking for something easy to put on/take off. I have a mid-size truck (Nissan Frontier), besides this trip they won't get too much use.
Just seeing what people recommend, I have a few brands in mind.
Thanks.

Bought my chains at Walmart like 10 years ago. Still use em.

I agree with Unreal tk, I don't see why Walmart chains wouldn't work for no more than you will use them. Let me give some suggestions of hints that may be well worth your time. First one is do a practice run at home in the dry and warm putting them on. It is no big deal but it is good to get the hang of installing them before they are needed and you are laying in the snow and ice, plus you will know you have the correct size and all the parts. Second, get a bag of the larger and stronger tie wraps, zip ties, plastic ties or whatever you want to call them. If you happen to break one of the cross chains you can just tie it up (not repair it) and it won't beat up your exhaust pipe or side of your vehicle and you won't have to listen to that irritating clanging. Good luck.

Better yet Bear. Bring a leatherman and a chain link that you can just squeeze. I've only had to do that once and it was my own fault for using on rock.another option is quick links as well.

Re: Tire Chains
I agree also, Had to use the zip ties sunday hauling off the mountain on my drag chains. Broke one of the cross straps and just zip tied it up and kept moving.
On a side note this weekend we decided to hole up for the storm and haul out after it passed, it was the first time I chained up All 4 with Drag chains and it was pretty impressive... Breaking camp 24K lbs with 10-12 inches and 8 degree's.
I had a little better set of Chains on the truck than that walmart ones, but for your setup I agree with everyone else you probably won't need much.

Oh another note. Do not use chains to hunt in!!! Use them as a emergency only.... cuz if your stuck with chains on you got a lot of digging ahead of you.
Re: Tire Chains
chains really come in handy when you spin out on hill and take off back down with no steering if you brake and no brakes if you steer.....oh yeh too late!
