Go pro on dog
Go pro on dog
I have seen where people have put go pro's on their dogs. Just got one but not sure how they are attaching it. Wondering if anyone has pics or ideas?

Hi ive used a gopro a few times attached to a leather collar with 2 bolts

Theres a rubber piece to stop a noise when it rattles its great for stopping the screw from unwinding.

What are you looking to film?

That's a good idea I was wondering how to attach it to the GPS or quick track collar never thought about its own collar. How did your film turn out? Mainly bear and lion. Had some cool bear bay ups and lions caught on ledges I wish I had some film of.

If you notice, the camera is angled up slightly. This is very important unless you want a lot of video of the ground.

Re: Go pro on dog
I always had the gopro loose so it was always kindof horizontal and if it bumped a rock or something it doesnt jolt the dog so much. the sound was never great and they werent brilliant in poor light but good to see what the dog got up to when it went missing.
Re: Go pro on dog
Does it seem to catch a bunch in the brush and rocks? Gonna be fun to try it out anyway and see how it turns out. I'm sure alot of the film is a waste but there would be sometime that would be sweet to have. Full cry do you have any film you could post or send me?

It's being used for a video so I can't post any. You end up with about 5% of excellent video, 10% of usable video and the rest makes you seasick.
I've only had one of the plastic lens scratched/ruined last year running a Tom in a bad rocky canyon that I had to replace ($8). So it's not a huge problem.

Dean do you have thick brush country? Sometimes our manzanita, buck brush or willows get real thick. You never had one rip free.

No none of that stuff, here its mainly pine forest and giant rock piles. I got some footage today of a cat we caught in a rock pile. I might be able to post some of it. I'm checking.

Re: Go pro on dog
Here are some pics taken off of the GoPro video we took yesterday. This cat ended up in a rock cave about 20 feet back in. The dog went in there half a dozen times, you can hear the cat growling but its pitch black. A buddy of mine that goes with me all the time, belly crawled in there with the cat and shot him 3 feet away. We got home around noon and two hours later he and his wife were in the delivery room. She had a little girl at 5:30.
