Why did the bear take a dump on the road?
Why did the bear take a dump on the road?
Runin logging roads in North Idaho 10 years ago.
We would ask the question why does the bear shit on the road.
My guess is in that part of the country it was the only flat spot??????
Thousands of timbered country and the bears wait for a logging road to dump.
This is a very serious question and I want real answers

Here's my take on it, early spring they are grazers, they like what grows on the sides of the road, and the roads also have the most thimble berries too. I never see much scat in late spring, summer or fall. There's some, but not like early. Bears also eat and crap all the time, if they are walking, it's dropping, I don't believe it matters where they are, there has been years you could not see anything on the road, and step off and the place was littered, it's just a place to get around, and an opening for grass and berries to grow. I havent got a clue why, the question is just far to hard for me ?!
But I know one thing, if I run accrost it in season early of the day and its still steamen, I maynot consider match more about it,but if the area is set up for success for my dogs I`m runnen that bear/ I know that much anyways !
Also he anin`t against riggen, roaden he understands its got its place for some, I hope Tomas does. He told ya its game count and movement numbers for lion. Lion in my humble openion arn`t like a bear that uses the easest path too get from point A too point B/ lionare useing game trails, and different lea high deaft sides of the drafts from moreing too afternoon wind drafts too move by and brush thicks all kinds of different movement ways from a bear who just usuall ambles along till bothed by man .

i would have to say because its the path of least resistance just like oil/ water/even electricity animals if you pay particular attention to were they walk they always take the path of least resistance what i mean deer /bear any animal with ample cover will walk a woods road or logging road because it is the easiest going just like when the you in the woods do you walk threw the bushes if there is a open path going the way your heading it uses less energy and gets from point a to b that much sooner with out wasting as much precious energy so un bothered they travel those road crap when the feel the urge. is next week question going to be if a tree falls in the woods thing just kidding. around my way, they love to mark up logging roads. You will see a lot of trees marked with bear claws along the edge of logging roads too.
Of course, cutover areas are where most of the berries grow around here, and you will find bears eating and cr@pping wherever there are berries.
Bear will walk just about anywhere with impunity, right through fences. However, we walk on roads a lot, so that's where we notice the bear scat.

When the berrys are ripe they crap all over the road.
I thought about maybe saying baits.
But I think now that the roads are run down so much maybe they hold the heat better. And we know what a full belly and sitting in the sun does?
Maybe way out there or not.
