hi sounds fun. I got 2 young dogs wanna start them on coyotes, any tips to help me out? they run a few coons with my good coon dogs they r a year and a half now. if I had some coyote dogs id be in biz now, we are over run with coyotes here in Upshur county wv, here them every time out con hunting. the dogs they haven't run any deer yet so that's a good thang, was gonna make them coon dogs but have to many already. is it hard to get them to run coyotes?
It is not hard. Training pens help. Running with a broke dog. If they can run track, walk them on coyote tracks and keep trying to get them to take them.
thank ya, haven't found a pen yet. know one does it around here so be hard to run them with a old dog. ill just keep walken them on tracks. I just didn't know if or a dog is real interested in them, is it hard getting them to run them? like a bear or deer seems like and hound run them easy if there not broke of them. we bobcat hunt with hounds here but its really hard to get them here they will not tree here, to many rocks logs and laurel thickets that if your in them you cant see your hand if you stick it straight out, they hole up easy. my names Justin from west virgina, if you ever wanna bring them hounds down get ahold of me. 304-940-5575, or just call to bs
IMO coyotes are probably the easiest game to get started on. They stink and when they get wet they stink more. I start my pups in a sight pen that's about 5 acreas and open that has fox in it. Usually around 5 -6 months old. After a time or 2 of that they know what they are suppose to be running. What kind of dogs are you trying to get started ?
