Diatomaceous earth

I have been feeding this along with dog feed to my hounds for about 3 years now, 1 month in the spring and one month in the winter, this is natural stuff that comes out the ground , its 100% effective on everykind of worm a dog can get, it will make your dog come out and shine like a new dime , google it and check it out its food grade diatomaceous earth !! it will kill fleas , ants, and a lot more, and a person can use it to suppose to be the best fiber one can eat

ive read approx a reaspoon per day mixed with their dog food but not 100% as ive never tried it

It is good stuff, but for it to kill fleas, you have to dust your dog's with it.

I have also used the stuff on my dogs. It seems to keep the ticks away some what also

I don't know about the worming aspect of it but It did not work for my fleas. Supposedly it has tiny fibers in it that works into the fleas body and kills them. I kept it on my dogs and my dirt pen with no good results. But I also came to the conclusion I must have had atomic fleas last summer cause nothing I tried got them under control in my dirt pens.

I used this stuff on a dog 2 years ago. She was too skinny and I couldnt put any weight on her so I tried it just like it said. Im not sure what the hell happened but about 8 days after starting to use the stuff I walked out to feed and my hard hunting little walker dog was dead!! Im not sure what really killed her but she was always a real hard keeper but she was always real healthy. But im sure of one thing, I will never feed another dog that stuff. I will put it out for fleas and tics but thats it.

Fed that stuff to a batch of feeder pigs one spring, mixed like 2 lbs. Of DE per 50 lbs. Of feed till feed was well dusted. After about 60 days fed a bag of meat maker 3 with wormer and the pigs were passing worms. DE did not work for me.

I been using it about 3 years now never had a problem with it, took 11 head to the vet for a rabie shot and got them all checked for worms said they had no worms in them, it works for me or seems to real good, haven't used another wormer except ivomec sence I been feeding it to them, as for fleas I haven't had any to use it on just going by what the bag said, but ants will stay away from it , some that had dogs die I don't believe it was that stuff that did it just my opinion cause its food grade and humans eat it also, they say its on every kind of grain we consume, but we all know about the they say stuff,

Diatomaceous earth, although it has a label claim to be a dewormer, is not added to feeds for this property. It helps manufactured feeds flow through feeding systems... so when a feed-mill is making a pellet for a poultry farmer, they may add some diatomaceous earth so that the processed grain doesn't clog up his feeding system, it will slide though the system easier.

For those of you that feed it to your dogs, and use ivomec or something of the sorts, the absence of worms is likely due to the other things you are doing, and the diatomaceous earth may help some with prevention but it is not a treatment for worms. Best thing for worms is to keep your kennels clean.

My wife used the DE on her chickens and chicken pen with good results. Jkohnke, I had those ATOMIC FLEAS last summer in my dirt pen, I used the tractor with the crop sprayer, triple strength 7, triple strength malathion, added inhibitor once a week and Adams pour on like the Frontline every 3 weeks to finally get a halfway handle on them!

D E is cheap, you can get it at most feed stores and it can be effective, i've never fed it to my dogs though, it doesn't kill insects and parasites with chemical properties like ivermectin, it cuts the exoskeleton of the insect or parasite and basically bleeds it out or dries it up, i've used it a few times when i was exterminating, I always just alternate proper dewormer, sometimes parasites build and immunity to a certain chemical if they don't get a lethal dose (actually all insects, parasites and even rodents can to some degree) but by alternating the active ingredient you dramatically reduce the chance of that happening. Fleas can be a pain, you basically have to use a chemical that will instantly kill the adults and then a growth regulator like methoprene to kill the eggs/larvae as contact killing chemical wont really affect them. You have to treat the dog with some sort of flea medicine ie. advantage and then spray or dust the problem areas. as stated you'd have to dust your dog with the D E to kill fleas off it and that alone would only kill the fleas that contact it, not the larvae in the kennel. The larvae live off of the adult feces, some chemicals will pass through the adult and come out in the feces, i can't off the top of my head remember the names of the active ingredients in those chemicals,but if you can get some of that your laughing, you boys in the states have way better stuff than we can get up here, laws up here change all the time on what is and is not available, they'd rather have a family plagued buy creepy crawlies than accidentally poison a starling.
