Dog food

Post by Hollister »

Just wondering if anyone buys their dog food in bulk? Do you save quite a bit when doing this? And what brands and where does a guy go about getting dog food by the bulk or pallet?

I have priced it by the pallet at the feed store I normally buy at, and the savings was only a few dollars a bag. So with a pallet of fourty you would basically get two bags free. Unless you're feeding a few dozen dogs, I'm sure by the time you got to the end of the stack mice would have eaten most of those free bags not to mention they would be dry and stale. I feed diamond hi energy.

I have a hunting buddy who keeps a couple a dozen dogs and buys his feed by the pallet from Tractor Supply, saves two dollars a bag. I believe its called Retriever. I still feed Purina but keep only 4 hounds.

Bought a pallet of diamond high energy at the feed mill in Cumberland last summer ended up paying around 22 a bag. So saved a couple bucks a bag depending on where you get it. You also don't have to pick it up all at one time so it don't go bad.

Thats pretty good, at the feed store I buy from its 35 and change for a bag, when you buy 4 bags or more you get $4 off so I pay 31 and some change. Haven't asked about a pallet, how much comes on one?

I have tried various dog food brands, the best I like is Nutra Nuggetts which I buy by the pallet at Costco. 28 bags per pallet @$27.39 each. There is no discount to buy by the pallet but as I live 100 miles from the closest place to buy it I need to get enough to make it worth it.

Where are you getting diamond hi energy for 22 a bag? I can't get it for less than 34 a bag in any quantity around here.
