master cat hunter

Post by coastrangecathunting »

Last year I, carry clay, david p., mark and others started a master cat hunters award. These were handed out at the cat hunters gathering here in Oregon. This is comparable to the hall of fame . We put in about 25 well deserved houndsmen last year. This year I was thinking around 5 and keep it at around 5 every year after. I was thinking we could have a bunch of names that people on here could give of gentlemen they feel deserve such an award. at the banquit we can have the members that are in the hall of fame pick 5 . also I was thinking about having men that hunted fox being able to get in this h.o.f.. just a thought . what do u guys think. lets here of some great old timers that might deserve this . The age limit to be inducted is 65 yrs old. If u give a name please give a little history of the man. Somethings I would look for in a man that deserves this would be 40 plus years of consistently catching game. thanks

Fellows it sure might help if when submitting a nomination for someone, you also write a short Bio on who they are, where they Hunted and when. This will help jog the Confirmation Committee's memory or inform them of someone of whom they may not have heard!

Yes Mr. Al I am sure JC does know these men!

But does Jerry King, or Mr. Turner or some of the others who will be voting on these nominees? That was my point. You may not know who Bill Curtis is or any of several deserving Houndsmen from Southern California....a Short Bio could help. JMO

Jake I do not know Hubert on a personal level. I talk to him quite a bit over the phone and I do know what you mean about his story's. I been meaning to get down there and hunt with him. I have hunted a few of his dogs and they were the real deal and when talking with Hubert about them dogs was alot of fun getting the history behind them. I talk with Justus alot and go see him when I can and the story's he tell's about Hubert there is no doubt the man is more then Qualified for the award.

I know his age isn't quit up to par but I have hunted with some fine hunters and I would have to say Mr Curt Preston would be about as tough to beat in oregon as they get a hard hunting man that know cats and dogs he has my vote. I also hunted with a guy when I was younger his name was Jimmy Jordan he was the real deal as a houndsman caught lots game and did it with style I seen his dogs catch a hand full of cats on the ground at night and back in the day they would bay like a bear dog should these guys raised these hounds up from pups and catch game that's says a lot to me

Ted

Jim Jordan has been out of hounds for many years...... He would qualify on age....Should the candidate still be hunting hounds, or based on past accomplishments?
