This upcoming Monday are the conservation congress meetings across the state. There is quite a big hound related question this year, which I'm sure many of you have heard of, but figured it can't hurt to spread the word.
Question 48: Hunting dogs can stray onto property where their owners do not have permission to be. Currently the animal cannot be legally retrieved without the property owner’s permission. Property owners cannot always be located to obtain the necessary permission to retrieve a hunting dog. A quick retrieval is always in the best interests of the dog, dog owner, and property owner. In the states of Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa a person on foot may, without permission, enter private land without a firearm to retrieve a hunting dog. After retrieving the dog, the person must immediately leave the premises. This exception does not authorize the taking of wild game.
So something not to abuse, but definitely would be nice to have!
It would be nice to have a good turn out for this vote.
All the information you need is here (location per county, questionnaire, etc):

Re: Wisconsin Hound Hunters
You can attend a meeting anywhere. You will be able to vote on the questions since they are statewide.
You won't be able to vote on county delegates, but the questions are the important part anyways.
I'll be attending one out of my home county too.

I see we didn't get the majority of votes to agree with the hound retrieval question (#48), but it was closer than I thought it would be.

Its to bad the county I live in has alot of hound guys but only a couple at the meeting. I hope all that didn't come aren't the first ones to complain. I would think the parking lots would have been full of dog boxes. That's was a shame only two.

Really wish I would have seen this a couple days ago. I had no idea when it was. Hopefully we can get another vote on it in the future.

Re: Wisconsin Hound Hunters
i went to the meeting Monday. there was quite a few hound people there but i think those conservation congress meeting are all about deer anyways. all i can say is make sure you read the new deer regulations and have the correct tags in your pockets.
