Urgent Notice of Public Meeting: Bladen Lakes Tuesday, 7/8/1

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a Public Meeting on Tuesday, 7/8/14 at Bladen Lake Game Lands to take public comment on their proposal to BAN DOG HUNTING on 1,700 acres!

Location: Bladen Community College Auditorium (Building 9), 7418 NC Highway 41 West, Dublin, NC in Bladen County.

Public Meeting to take comments on WRC proposal to prohibit the use of dogs for taking deer on approximately 1,700 acres of Bladen Lakes State Forest Game Land. The proposed change involves two (2) game land locations: (1) one area west of Hwy. 242 along the property boundary north of Hwy. 53, and (2) a second area east of Hwy. 242 and north of Johnsontown Road in the vicinity of Bladen Lakes Primary School. The WRC has proposed “Restricted Deer Hunting Zone” designation for these areas to address public safety and user conflicts.

We knew Bladen Lakes would be their first target when they approved this new “Restricted Deer Hunting Zone” designation earlier this year.

Joe and Henri McClees will be in Raleigh for this week’s legislative session and unable to attend this important meeting. If you hunt at Bladen Lakes, please attend or have someone from your Club attend to voice your opinions and concerns. If you know others who hunt Bladen Lakes, please notify them immediately. This is short notice. The official notice is not on the WRC Home Page or Public Notice Page, but it does appear on the Agency Calendar page.
