Town
Is it even a remotely good idea to own a hound in town and go to high school, it'd get plenty of exercise and hunting but it'd b in a kennel for nine hours during the day while I'm at school? Like would y'all advise against it
Re: Town
Lots of ways to deter barking. Anti bark collars, mister setups, using a shock collar with reprimand. Along with good hunting/excercise. I will admit mine get away with barking, but I don't live in town either. But I do know several people who do.

Re: Town
Thanks, so a hound would be fine being in a kennel while I'm at school as long as I get him plenty of excercise?

Re: Town
I don't think it's a bad idea, I know guys that have four hounds in big cities that have never had a problem, they just kennel their dogs is sheds, or garages at night. I've seen hounds that are so loud that they will fight a bark collar, then some that don't make a peep unless their hunting. All mine are trained to be quite at the house, they howl at the barn cats, and horses occasionally but no more than any other dog, and when told to shut up they do. In fact my most vocal hound hunting, doesn't make a peep at the house the only time she will bark is if there is a critter around the house that shouldn't be there. Plus letting them run everyday is good cause bored cooped up hounds are noisy and jittery and wore out tired hounds are quite and content. JMO I think city is fine just takes more work.
